FRIENDS OF FOGELBERG
One out of six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the course of their lifetime, and it is the second leading cause of death from cancer in men. In order to bring awareness to this disease and to raise money for the Harrington Cancer Center, join the Friends of Fogelberg for their concert at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts TONIGHT at 7:30pm. Hosted by one of our dear friends, Dr. Richard Kibbey (a prostate cancer survivor himself), and featuring local music talent including Anderson, Flesher and Key, Insufficient Funds, The Soul Breakers, and many more! $15 tickets (what at steal!) available at Panhandle Tickets.
100 YEARS STRONG
If you don't know who Eddie Melin is... read this great article by our friend Jon Mark Beilue of the AGN. But the main scoop - the Amarillo Symphony is having a party for this precious man and it is FREE to the public in his honor. Join the talented Amarillo Symphony and other special guests on Friday, July 27th at 7PM at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts (yes, go Thursday AND Friday).
COWBOY DAY
Celebrate 8th Annual National Day of the Cowboy this Saturday, July 28th at our wonderful American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum. Lots of fun for the whole family with special performances from the cast of TEXAS, tours of the Hall of Fame, rides on American Quarter Horses, junior ranch rodeo with Pokey the Clown, and lots of fun and crafts for the little buck-a-roos! Click here for more information.
HOT BLOOD
Run a 5K or go for the gold and do the full 10K this Saturday to benefit The Bridge: Children's Advocacy Center. Get Fit's Annual Hot Blooded is definitely worth an early wake-up this weekend. 7:30AM start this Saturday, July 28th in the parking lot behind Get Fit on Georgia Street. Sign up and run this fun race for a great cause!
HARLEY PARTY
The 18th Annual Original Harley Party - an outdoor street party on historic Polk Street between 10th and 12th Streets - is a fundraiser for Family Support Services. Set for 5PM - 9PM this Saturday, enjoy live music from the Buster Bledsoe Band and Rock Bottom. $80 gets you and a friend in to enjoy great food from local restaurants, drinks and a chance to win a Harley of your own!
OLYMPICS
Get started with the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London! Here is your guide on how to watch your favorite sport, and we don't think that you should miss the opening ceremonies Friday night. Click here for all the info to channel surf your way through this year's Olympic Games.
KIDSFEST
This Saturday, July 28th, enjoy Kidsfest at the Amarillo Civic Center from 8am-noon. This awesome event gives parents and their kiddos an opportunity to get free school supplies before they head back to campus next month! Lots of amazing non-profit organizations will be on hand with fun games and toys as well.
Your fun friends,
Susan and Farrar
