Fall is here, so we have scoured all the best fashion blogs and websites to bring you what we think are the top 5 trends for fall for men and women. Let's start with the dudes...
MENS FALL FASHION TRENDS
The Jean: Get the perfect fit - trim and tapered, but NOT crazy slim. Jeans should be a dark worn wash for that broken-in character. Corduroy and colored jeans are in, especially in dark colors like olive and deep navy.
The Jacket: Heritage looks are everywhere. Best way to accomplish this feel is a refined cord jacket - timeless and elegant. The colors plum and brown definitely seem to have the edge this fall, but you can go for more traditional colors if that is a bit too bold. Unlined tweed wool jackets are in and we love a sapphire-blue velvet jacket for the holiday season. Regardless, the key is a modern and tailored fit, no matter your size - don't look like you are wearing grandpa's hand-me-down.
The Boot: Chunky, industrial boots are in. Think tough looking leather and plenty of attitude. Since we are Texas however, nothing is better than a good pair of cowboy boots. That, my friend, is timeless.
Hot Professor: We love the shawl collar cardigan - it is all over the men's fashion sites! Ladies, if you can manage to get your guy into one, you'll swoon. If you can get him to wear a scarf, well, then we bow down to you... for us, it is like trying to put shoes on a toddler who doesn't want to wear them. Think tantrums, throwing stuff... the works. But try!
Finishing Touch: A hint of camo is a must this fall - but unless you are a soldier, you need not go all out in army fatigues. Just get a piece for a cool, military look. Canvas jackets are hot as well - look for one that goes below the belt line - it will be the perfect grab for cool panhandle nights.
LADIES FALL FASHION TRENDS
Fur: Around the collar or as a vest or jacket, fur has taken over the runways! Don't send PETA after us, most designers are using faux-fur and no animals were injured in the writing of this post!!!
Jewelry: Chunky bracelets layered with a large watch - love it or leave it, that is a huge trend for fall. Chokers and short statement necklaces are in. We love the bold look!
Tops: printed tie neck blouses are all the rage. Silky and layered, these blouses look fab under a great jacket.
Cheetah: Animal print is not going anywhere, but be smart ladies - get a fabulous pair of leopard dot print heels and pair with your favorite black dress for a great evening look.
Color: Bright jeweled colored jeans and pants are so hot. Look at the way this pops with the neutrals on top! This fall, orange is the must-have hue. Now is the time for colors to shine through - bland colors are not to be seen this season - bold colors have taken over!
We love the phrase: Be Global, Shop Local! Here are a few of our favorite local shops to get the latest and greatest fall fashions: Raffkinds, Et Cetera (Elaine Turner trunk show this Thursday), Janey's at 2500, Top Notch Outfitters, Lily Finch, M. Elly's, The English Rose and Tobacco Leaf Boutique.
And don't forget designer lines that you can score at a home show - we never miss these two: W by Worth New York & J Hilburn by Shelby Stapp and Maggie Velky and Carlisle by Susan Kibbey and Ginny Shelton.
